Background of Ungku Aziz Residential College


The Eleventh Residential College of University of Malaya, also known as Ungku Aziz Residential College (KUAZ), was build from the year 1996 and completed in 23rd May 1998. The establishment of this college was officiated by His Royal Highness, Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah, Regent of Perak and Pro Chancellor of University of Malaya. The first College Master was Mr. Ramli Baharom, who served from 1st April 1998 until March 2000. From 1st November 2001 to 31st August 2002, Dr. Kamaludin Ab. Rashid took over and from 3rd October 2002 to June 2003, Dr. Amran Husin Acted as the College Master and followed by Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Jalil Othman until 31st July 2010. On 1st August 2010, Dr. Nadhratul Wardah Hj Salman has been appointed as the College Master until now.


This college was initially built to accomodate students from the Centre for Foundation Studies in Science University of Malaya (PASUM) besides having a platform for students' self development. In the year 1998, the first group of PASUM students registered for the 1998/1999 session on 25th May 1998.


KUAZ major transformation starts on academic year 2007/2008 where this college was recognized as the International Accomodation for international students, besides local students still staying in this college. KUAZ evolve from just not just from the students that stay in the college, but with a lot of facilities for student such as upgrading students room, meeting room, hall, new court, cafetaria, WIFI access, and more.
